Taking a summer break
Enjoying a summer break
I’ve historically taught my classes on a term-time basis and this structure has stuck even though my children are now adults. I have considered teaching year-round but feel that both myself and my clients like the structure of blocks of 5-7 weeks with regular breaks in between. The summer break is the longest, and I’m using my time over the summer to plan some new classes for the next term. I’m also supporting my existing clients by teaching a few sessions in August that they can book as individual sessions.
Whilst I really enjoy my teaching, I also love having a little extra time to do some additional learning and feel fortunate to have various courses and webinars available online. I hope to delve into some of these over the next few weeks.

I’m conscious though, that I have a habit of expecting too much from myself during these summer breaks, which inevitably fly past and then I feel disappointed that I didn’t meet my expectations, so I’m not expecting too much and will try and do a few bite-sized sessions of education now and again.
I’m also enjoying catching up with a few friends, many of whom are also busier during term-time like myself. It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy some family time and celebrations too. A wonderful week was spent in beautiful North Wales, and although the weather was still pretty hot, we enjoyed some walks, river dips and white-water rafting. We also honed our skills on the onsite pool table and darts board! The garden seating made for a calm and peaceful spot for my morning meditation sessions, overlooking the mountains in the distance!

I know January is often seen as the time for new beginnings, but I find that the summer is also a really good time for a bit of reflection. I like to get out my large blank paper pad and bright colouring pens and do some reflection on the past year and some thinking and journalling about the next. I might just do some of that this afternoon!
September is also a time for many to re-think their regular weekly routines, with the start of the new school year. If you’re thinking of starting a new class in September, I’m taking bookings now, simply email using the link below and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. Please include a mobile number to help me reply in the event that emails don't land.
